List of web 2.0 companies doing personalized news, dead or alive?

I am doing a research on companies that offer personalized news that takes RSS feeds and somehow help each user get to the news he cares quickly, out of a huge pile of stories. I have found some including searchfox (dead already), rojo, findory, newsvine, among others. I would like to find out whether they are successful or have failed, and the reasons behind it. So please help if you know a company, how it is doing and the whys.

Microsoft has Windows Live, Google has a personalized search page, and Yahoo! has My Yahoo!, all of which allow you to add RSS feeds as well as other stuff.

My Yahoo! is the oldest of the three, and so couldn't really be considered Web 2.0. On the other hand, Yahoo! News allows you to personalize the news, and does have Web 2.0 features, but doesn't include the ability to add your own RSS feeds.

The new Yahoo! Mail beta (a closed beta, unfortunately) has a moderately nice RSS reader built in, and could be considered Web 2.0.

Two other smaller companies that have personalized news / RSS sites are Netvibes and Pageflakes.

So there's a lot of competition from both large and small companies.
