I'm not sure if it is the same on all phones, but on mine (LG VX8300 from Verizon Wireless) I can view HTML pages, although they tend to be difficult to read because of the large images and such. Usually, it is a good idea to stick to wap sites unless it is a very simple html website that you want to view.
