What is Web 2.0? Which sites are Web 2.0? How to find out whether a site is Web 2.0 or not?

Web 2.0 is more a descriptive term than something with a specific definition. Some aspects of Web 2.0 sites are:

- an API (programming interface) which allows people to build their own interface to the data

- use of AJAX (javascript and XML) to communicate between the browser and the client rather than (or in addition to) HTML

The reason there's no clear dividing line for a Web 2.0 application is that a web site might use SOME javascript/XML, or have an API that exposed SOME of its functionality.

As usual, the Wikipedia has some background on the terms (links below). You can also see the programmableweb web site for some examples.
