1) Develop the entire site including graphic designs, CMS, and with social networking, and integrating with other services like twitter, etc.
2) Runing cost per month/year
3) what kind of platform is best
4) what esle do i need to know?

Reply:If you make a close copy of an existing site it will not be a success after all, why go to your site when there is a well established site that works the same way? You need to stand out and do things better than the existing sites in order to make a success. Of course this is less an issue when you are opening in a different market, but may still be an issue.
Be aware that web development is a costly business, you may well be offered development on the cheap. This may well end in disaster and will probably be constructed from bolt together templates which wont quite fit purpose and will result in an ugly clunky to use site.
As it happens, I am not impressed with Zillow and though trulia is slightly better, I think there is scope for improvement, but in your case I would suggest starting simple and building up to the functionality of those sites.
I would price an *original* build from scratch from $6,000 upwards for the complete functionality, not cheap but simplifying the system to begin with could bring the cost down.
